Of course there are no official rules to being a member of FT except to follow the Terms of Service that you agreed to when registering, but a few people who have been around have offered some suggestions in making this a bulletin board to help everyone.

1. Make sure you post in the correct forum. Read the forum descriptions and think and you will be right most of the time.
2. Avoid posting the same thing in multiple forums.
3. On The Coupon Connection, try to keep giving and requesting in harmony. Do some of each!
4. Stay out of flame wars!
5. Use the search feature. Especially as a newbie it will answer lots of your questions.
6.  Post an email address. It lends to your credibility and lets people get in touch with you. If you don't
want to use your regular e-mail address, it's very easy to get an anonymous one through Hotmail, Yahoo or a number of other websites.
7.  It helps if you post topic titles that let people know what the subject is specifically, rather than vague
things like "Help" or "Hotel Question".

• In MileageRun, try to make it known what you are trying to do. Specifics on the airline, city pairs, segments or miles make it alot easier for helping out.

It's now very easy to put in a usefully descriptive title as a hyperlink, rather than the entire URL which may give no hint at all as to what the link is about. For example:

It's easy too! When you're posting, just click on the *UBB Code is ON link directly to the left of the box you type your posts in. The very first subject is URL Hyperlinks, which tells you exactly how to put links, and links with titles, in your posts. You can even copy the formula into your post and then substitute the real data until you get used to it (that's what I did).

It has the added benefit of eliminating those incredibly long URLs that crop up occasionally and mess up
everybody's screen.  (I really hate the awkwardness those create)
